A powerful condemnation of all wars, in this impactful artwork, Master Qiuchi Chen expresses his disdain for the events that occurred in Hiroshima in 1945, symbolizing the atrocities that human beings are capable of. The vertical composition, with a clear mystical character resembling an “altar” or “shelter,” contains its emotional function within the rows of elegant white crosses, representing the American soldiers overshadowed by their executioner. eyond the barely hinted road, there are skulls and bones abandoned under the rubble, with bomb explosions released from the plane above. In the upper center the symbol of peace emerges, composed of the desperate cries of bloodied faces. Behind everything, but majestic in its brightest light, the sun rises, symbolizing rebirth and life.
