Piero Gemelli

Highly appreciated for his work as a fashion, beauty, and still-life photographer, Piero Gemelli has created campaigns and advertising images for well-known international brands including Tifany, Gucci, Ferre, Lancome, Estee Lauder, Revlon, and Shiseido. Considered one of the most important Italian photographers on an international level, he has been a long-time collaborator of Vogue and has participated in numerous exhibitions. Some of his notable exhibitions include the solo exhibition “Idea Progettata – fotografie 1983-1993” (Il Diaframma, Milan, 1994), “20 anni di Vogue Italia 1964-1984” (Milan, 1985), “A propos de la photographie italienne” (Musee de l’Elysee, Lausanne, 1992), “Lo sguardo Italiano – fotografe di moda dal 1951 a oggi” (Rotonda Besana, Milan, 2005), “Dettagli di Moda” (Villa Filippini, Besana Brianza, 2009), “W(H)O-MAN” (MyOwnGallery, Milan, 2010), “Piero Gemelli, Vintage Prints” (Stll Gallery, Milan, 2016), and “An Interior Life” (Milan, 2019), a show curated by Maria Vitoria Baravelli at his own home/studio during MIArt and Salone del Mobile.
In 1993, the monograph “Piero Gemelli: Fotografe 1983-1993” was published with an introduction by Natalia Aspesi.
In October 2021, the book “Piero Gemelli. Peter Gemelli. Photographs and imagined stories Fotografie e storie immaginate” was released, curated by Maria Vitoria Baravelli and published by Editori Paparo, featuring contributions from various authors.
Gemelli also works as an artistic director and architect in the field of design and interior decoration, and alongside his professional work, he has his own artistic production of photography and graphics.

His most recent solo exhibition, “Piero Gemelli – LA BELLEZZA SVELATA, fotografie e storie immaginate,” took place at PAN Palazzo delle Art in Naples from October 9th to November 20th, 2021, curated by Maria Savarese and Maria Vitoria Baravelli in collaboration with the Department of Education, Culture, and Tourism of the Municipality of Naples and the National Chamber of Fashion. The retrospective featured over 100 works, including photographs, drawings, and wire sculptures.
